Theme: Staying Home, Coming Together


 

Staying Home, Coming Together is our first ever virtual Eid experience. We are bringing Eid to your homes on Saturday, May 23!

Our program schedule will be as follows for the day of Eid:

Eid Greetings from the AMA Board

The Eid greetings will be shared in 7 languages for our diverse community and will also be played on our YouTube channel.

11:00 AM

Virtual Greetings for Families, Men & Women

One of the most beautiful parts of Eid is the opportunity to greet and congratulate your family, friends, and fellow Muslims.

This Eid we want to provide you with that same opportunity. We will be setting up 3 Zoom groups so that you can interact and greet others from our community.

We recommend downloading the free Zoom app to your device so you can take part in this activity if you wish.

Each group can have up to 100 participants and will be moderated by an MC.

Family Trivia

Do you have the smarts to win it all? We’ll be holding a live trivia contest and will provide prizes to the winners!

There will be 3 trivia groups based on your age. Here are the age categories:

  • 8 – 12 year olds
  • 12 – 18 year olds
  • Adults (18+)

The questions will be shared live on Zoom and you can use the link below to participate.

There is a limit of 100 participants so make sure to click on the link at 1:30 PM when we begin.

We will be using Kahoot!, a free tool, to keep track of who gets questions right or wrong during the live activity.

Youth Talent Competition (For Boys 12 – 18 Years Old)

How talented are you? Would you like to show off a trick, skill, or talent in order to win a prize? To take part in this competition you will need to record a 60 second clip of your talent. Here are some ideas to fuel your creativity:

  • Performing tricks with a soccer ball
  • Showing off basketball dunking ability
  • Stand up-comedy skit
  • Be a mime
  • Etc. (you can do anything you like)

Here are the guidelines:

  1. The talent itself needs to be Islamically appropriate
  2. The video clip cannot be longer than 60 seconds.
  3. Email your clip to us at youth@mymasjid.ca and our judges will evaluate it.

We will also be doing a live session at 3:30 PM on the day of Eid and you can show off your talents live on Zoom.

Eid Cultural Dress Competition for Girls & Women

Every Eid we take pride in wearing our best clothes. For this Eid we want to keep that spirit alive with a cultural dress competition.

This is a competition to see who will be the best dressed person and is open to girls and women of all ages. Your pictures will be viewed and judged to win some great prizes from AMA!

How to Join the Competition

(Step 1) Use the link below to share a picture of yourself in your traditional cultural clothing for Eid.

(Step 2) Use the + icon in the bottom right corner to upload your Eid outfit.

  • In the note for your picture upload please include your name and email address so we can contact you if you are a winner.

(Step 3) The winner will be announced on the second day of Eid.

Deadline to Submit Your Photo: You have until 11:59 PM on the first day of Eid (Saturday, May 23 or Sunday, May 24) to submit your cultural dress picture online using the link above. We will announce the winners on the next day.



Art Competition for Kids & Youth

There will be an art competition for kids and youth for both boys and girls. There will be prizes for 3 age groups

  • 4 to 6 years old
  • 8 – 10 years old
  • 12 to 14 years old

You will need to create a piece of art that will be reviewed by our judges.

Guidelines for Submitting Your Art

  1. The piece of art you create can be a drawing or a painting. It can also be a picture of the beautiful decoration of your home or of your car to show the spirit of Eid
  2. It will need to be an original design (do not copy others)
  3. It needs to be Islamically appropriate

How to Join the Competition

(Step 1) Create your original piece of art.

(Step 2): Take a picture of your art and email it to sisters@mymasjid.ca. Please remember to include these details in your email:

  • Your age
  • Your full name
  • Your phone number so we can contact you if you are a winner.

The winner will be announced on the second day of Eid.

Visits to our Seniors

Our team of volunteers will be paying visits to seniors from our community to share Eid greetings with them.
