Part-Time Secretary

You will be supporting the UMO-OG in a secretarial capacity.


Job Description

The United Muslim Organizations – Ottawa Gatineau (UMO-OG) is seeking a dynamic individual to take on the role of Secretary on a part-time basis. UMO-OG is made up of 12 Muslim organizations in the Ottawa Gatineau area.

    • Work Duties: Coordinate meetings; record minutes and track action items; prepare media response lines; manage and share information; coordinate volunteer activities.
    • Qualifications: Post-secondary education (bachelor degree preferred); experience conducting office administration; computer savvy; able to manage website content, social media accounts; experience working/volunteering with Ottawa-Gatineau Muslim community.

Site Support Coordinator (Full-Time Summer Job)

You will be supporting the day to day operation of the AMA Centre and its core programs.


Job Description

The Program Support Coordinator will support in the effective delivery of the AMA community programming and fundraising initiatives through the coordinated efforts of staff and volunteer resources.

This role is responsible to:

    • Provide logistical support to the various AMA programs for youth, women, and seniors
    • Ensure successful implementation of each program activity taking place at the centre.
    • Coordinate with the presenters/resource persons
    • Support management of facilities to maintain smooth operations
    • Participate in the planning process to streamline operations
    • Assist the Site Manager in the day to day operations of AMA Community Centre

Events & Program Coordinator (Full-Time Summer Job)

You will be helping to prepare, manage, and evaluate AMA’s major community activities.


Job Description

This position will focus on the creation, execution, and evaluation of AMA’s large community events during the summer. These are activities that have 500 or more participants such as Ramadan festivities and the Eid celebrations.

    • Help with planning community programs for various demographics such as Ramadan, summer camps, and Eid
    • Help lead and maintain activities that will occur during Ramadan and right after Ramadan
    • Work alongside AMA volunteers and staff to run summer activities effectively
    • Lead and help organizing and running several programs targeted at youth, women, seniors, and families
    • File reports, record programs in a timely manner and keeps directors informed.
    • Track program attendance, costs and resources

Community Development Coordinator
(Full-Time Summer Job)

You will be helping to develop and deliver programming for parental engagement, youth, women, seniors and broader community engagement.


Job Description

Community development programming is intended to provide an opportunity for residents in priority neighbourhoods in the AMA program area to experience socialization and participation in activities that will enhance their quality of life

This includes providing opportunities to develop and lead projects that lead to community safety and increased sense of belonging among residents.

    • Assist in implementing changes and/or development of new programs attracting youth, women, and seniors within the mandate of the AMA Centre.
    • Work with youth program lead to increase youth involvement and develop suggested activities, events and supportive materials such as lesson plans or templates.
    • Engage, train and support volunteers for programs. Engage volunteers to support community work.
    • Develop ideas for community projects and seek partnerships
    • Engage stakeholders and service delivery partners for support priority neighbourhoods in the AMA program area.
    • Monitor and evaluate the community outreach and engagement program
    • Build and maintains positive volunteer partnerships in support of the effective execution of programs
    • Support in reviewing existing AMA youth-oriented programs. Prepare monthly activity plans and program reports.
