3. Construction Project
The desire to start on this grand project came from the desire to build a complete masjid that could accommodate around 2,000 worshipers in Ottawa South. Our previous prayer location on Bank Street was too small and this resulted in the need to expand.
The construction project had 5 phases and lasted for many years. Our masjid now has complete facilities for prayer, wudu, working offices, a basement for social events, and so much more. You can scroll down below to learn more about each phase of construction.

Learn about all 5 Phases
Phase 1

Although the plot of land was bought many years ago, it was in October 2007 when construction began on the project.
Phase 2

This phase of the project began in October 2008. Phase 2 involved the installing water systems and earthworks.
Phase 3

During this time work on the exterior of the masjid began and the shape of the building slowly started to take form.
Phase 4

You could see that the masjid was nearing its final stages. Drywall and washrooms are added to the basement.
Phase 5

From January 2012 to April 2012 the masjid had plenty of work performed in the interior to prepare for partial occupancy.
Grand Opening

After years of hard work, dedication, and support from our community, we were able to open all floors of the masjid.
