thanks to amazing volunteers

Assalam Alaykum,

Ramadan is at an end, but we wanted to express our sincerest gratitude and request dua’s from our community members for our precious volunteers, who consistently donate their time and efforts to the community whenever the need arises.

At the start of Ramadan, despite our long fasts, it’s our volunteers who eagerly signed up to serve the community and keep the doors of the Masjid open. It’s through their sacrifices that  our community enjoyed prayers in the Masjid in the first week of Ramadan safely.

The hard work and passion of our volunteers does not go unnoticed. AMA would not be able to care for its congregants and community members the way it can without them. Their efforts inspire progress and growth. When the masjid was closed during the pandemic, it was through our  volunteers that we were able to offer virtual programs to the congregants. As a result of their efforts and creating thinking, Muslims were able to still feel connected to the masjid.

To provide you with a sense of what our Masjid accomplished, due to the commitment of our volunteers, here are some statistics:

Qur’an Intensive Memorization Program: 90+ students enrolled to memorize Qur’an this Ramadan under the guidance of trained teachers.

Qur’an Programs: 60+ men and women benefited from reciting and learning the Qur’an regularly.

Tafsir Program: 400+ people watched the program that encouraged reflection and spiritual connection to the Qur’an.

Live and Recorded Halaqas: 3,700 people watched our halaqas and livestream programs in English & Arabic online.

Children & Youth Ramadan Programs: 340+ registrants for programs aimed to help children and youth develop a spiritual connection to Ramadan and the Qur’an.

Converts Programs: Active support provided to 15+ new converts who learned about prayer, fasting, and the fundamentals of Islam. Programs providing social support and educational Arabic & Qur’an classes were offered in Ramadan.

Seniors Programs: 100+ seniors attended classes and events to boost emotional, mental, spiritual and physical wellness.

COVID-19 Testing & Vaccination Clinic:  Organizing constant outreach to the community at large.

UMO-OG COVID-19 Relief Food Boxes & Hygeine Packs: Distributing and sharing 550+ food boxes and other supplies to individuals in need. 140 Eid gifts were also distributed in collaboration with Islamic Relief Canada and Islam Care Centre.

Social Assistance Program: Ongoing support to vulnerable Muslims in Ottawa.

Da’waa and Ramadan Guide: 1040 people have visited our Ramadan Guide developed for New Muslims and Non-Muslims.

Our volunteers worked behind the scenes to coordinate the logistics and provide technical support for each event and continue to do so during Eid al-Fitr.

To our dedicated volunteers, AMA would like to Thank You all from the bottom of our hearts. We want to acknowledge and express our gratitude to you for helping us serve our community. Everything is from Allah (SWT), and it’s through worshipping Him and acting upon the Qur’an and sunnah of the Prophet (SAW), that we see our efforts come to fruition. May Allah (SWT) accept our ibadah in the month of Ramadan and raise the status of our volunteers. Allah huma ameen.

JazakumAllahu Khairan.

Sincerely,

The AMA Team
